It's almost done!!
We made two offers on 'Highcroft' and both were rejected, but the owners had a chat between them and came back and signed off on the property if we went $5k more than our second offer. Contract has been signed by both parties, the Bank has gone out and done a valuation on the place, and we'll find out in a day or so if it's all going ahead!!

Smoke house.
I have decided that I will build a smoke house on our property. Love the smell of the stuff, even though I can't eat a lot of it....... but I'm looking forward to some smoked fish..... especially the *huge* salmon that I have been told that escape from the ocean pens and run into the local bay :-)

The wait is over!!!
Well........ she came back from Tassie with not much to say, so I didn't push it. Over the next few days the talking began in earnest, and the decision was finally given "When the real estate agent calls, tell her yes." !!!!!
I know it's a big decision for her, and I admire her for making it, because at one stage a comment was made "Why don't we just keep renting for the rest of our lives and just have fun?"
But anyway, the wait is over, I've spoken to the RE who, of course, wanted to push it through immediately, but she has been told to back off and respect our right to take things slowly, as it is our first time!! So now the fun has begun getting all the paperwork together to submit to the finance section of the real estate (who have independent mortgage brokers working with them), for finance pre-approval and then we make make a firm offer on the place.

24Nov11
Back from Tasmania, looked at a lot of properties while I was down there but there was just one that stood out, and that when I was standing in the lounge-room looking out the north facing glass door, it really felt like I could call this place my home. And now the wait begins for she who must also like it to make it *our* home, to fly down there for an overnighter to specifically go and look at the house.
It all hinges on her decision, and she's a bit scared at the moment because after almost 19 years together, this is the biggest 'change' we'll have ever made. I'm jazzed about the place, it's ideal.
However, I have to respect her decision......... if we both can't say "I want to call this place home", then we have to keep looking till we find a place we can.
